A Year of Sundays: The Ninth Sunday (3/2/25)

Writer: ING: ImagineNewGreatnessING: ImagineNewGreatness

This week, I’ve been thinking a lot about community. Now feels like the perfect time to establish—or reestablish—connections with others. There’s something profoundly energizing about being in the presence of like-minded souls, sharing ideas, laughter, and even silence. Science tells us that when we connect with others, our bodies release oxytocin, often referred to as the “bonding hormone.” This chemical response makes us feel good and strengthens our sense of belonging and well-being.

This week brought me a realization: I’ve been isolating myself, retreating into the shadows of winter’s darkness. But one sunny afternoon spent in the company of others reminded me of the power of connection. The warmth of the sun on my skin, the sound of shared laughter, and the simple act of being present with others helped me reconnect with my true nature. It was a gentle nudge to step out of my self-imposed solitude and embrace the vitality that comes from community.

Whether it’s joining an online meetup, attending a local library group, or simply reaching out to a friend, finding ways to connect is essential. As Marianne Williamson writes in her book Illuminata, “Mystical power neither originates nor acts upon the material realm” (Williamson, 1994, p. 45). This idea reminds us that the energy we seek—whether it’s joy, resilience, or inspiration—often flows through our relationships with others. Connection is a conduit for the intangible forces that sustain us.

So, this week, I encourage you to seek out community in whatever form feels right for you. It doesn’t have to be grand or elaborate; even small, meaningful interactions can reignite your spirit. Let the warmth of connection remind you that you’re not alone, and that together, we can navigate the darkness and step into the light.

Here’s to building bridges, fostering connections, and finding strength in the collective energy of community.
