Each day brings its own unique challenges and joys, especially as we grow older. With age comes a wealth of experience and, hopefully, a well-honed ability to cope with life’s ups and downs. I’ve discovered many different coping mechanisms over the years, but one of my favorites is keeping an affirmation close at hand at all times.
Whenever an errant memory or a wave of unsettling emotion washes over me, I turn to a simple phrase: “This too shall pass, and soon.” It’s a gentle reminder that nothing lasts forever, that even the most difficult moments are fleeting.
On the flip side, when a cherished memory bubbles to the surface, I embrace it wholeheartedly, allowing myself to bask in its warmth and beauty for as long as possible.
Living and loving are essential parts of making life a good place. But let’s face it, life can also be an arduous journey. It’s crucial to equip ourselves with tools to help us navigate the inevitable challenges. For me, affirmations are one of those tools. They offer a sense of calm, a touchstone to ground me when I feel adrift.
I encourage you to find your own coping mechanisms, the tools that resonate with you and bring you peace. Whether it’s meditation, spending time in nature, or simply connecting with loved ones, remember that you have the power to navigate life’s twists and turns with grace and resilience.
